A Hall-of-Fame Shot by Bird
Date: June 11, 1987
Take a look at this shot! Larry Bird hit a jumper in Boston’s Game 5 win in the 1987 NBA Finals to keep the team’s championship hopes alive. One reason the Boston Celtics-Los Angeles Lakers rivalry thrilled audiences was the lineup of great players on both sides. Celtics legends Bird, Kevin McHale, Dennis Johnson and Robert Parish became Hall-of-Famers, along with James Worthy, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Magic Johnson of the Lakers. One other Hall-of-Fame member of that Celtics team, Bill Walton, said that Bird “sacrificed everything…gave his life…gave his body for the Boston Celtics each and every day.”
