Larry Bird retired after the 1992 NBA Playoffs with a career of highlights that rival any player in basketball history. The 1992-93 team yearbook featured an extensive look back at highlights, records and unforgettable moments in Bird’s time playing with the Celtics. Red Auerbach, who participated in a Q&A for the publication in honor of his 75th birthday, said he did not expect Bird to have such a career. “I thought he would be a very good player, but not to the magnitude that we witnessed for the past 13 years. He was a great one,” Auerbach said.
