An Un-Celtics-Like Season
Date: 1996-97 season
As the Celtics and the NBA celebrated their 50th anniversary season in 1996-97, Boston didn’t have much to celebrate with an injured team. Top scorers Dino Radja, Dana Barros and Dee Brown all played in 25 or fewer games, leaving young players like David Wesley, Eric Williams and rookie Antoine Walker to pick up the slack. Boston’s 4-8 start was one highlight of the season as Boston won only 11 more games the rest of the way, completing the worst slate in franchise history. However, for his efforts Walker earned a spot on the All-Rookie First Team, showing signs of the team leader he would soon become.
