Division Champions in ’05
Date: 2004-05 season
It was a little bit of old and a little bit of new for the rebuilding Celtics and new Head Coach Doc Rivers in the 2004-05 season. With three middle first-round picks, Boston picked up Al Jefferson, Delonte West and Tony Allen. The team also traded for future Hall-of-Famer Gary Payton and signed veteran Tom Gugliotta. Boston even welcomed back Antoine Walker for the stretch run, winning 11 of their first 12 games after the trade. The formula worked as the Celtics put together 45 victories and claimed the Atlantic Division title for the first time in 13 years. Five Celtics averaged more than 11 points per game with All-Star Paul Pierce leading the way at 21.6.
