Double Trouble Simmons
Date: 1940s
Brothers Connie and Johnny Simmons posed with Celtics Coach John “Honey” Russell, likely during the team’s inaugural season of 1946-47. The Simmons brothers are one of the few siblings to each score 15 points in one game in NBA history. Russell and his staff only met the 6-foot-8 Connie as he dropped his brother off in Boston. After signing Connie, Johnny Simmons’ NBA career ended after one season with the Celtics, while Connie’s NBA career spanned a decade. A trade during the 1947-48 season took Connie south to the Baltimore Bullets.
