A new Cadillac, a color television set, the love of his teammates and the adoration of a huge crowd at Boston Garden awaited K.C. Jones for his own night after the understated guard announced his retirement. Much like his Celtics career, Jones let someone else shine during the ceremony: in this case, his nearly two-year-old daughter Bryna Lynn. Bill Russell could not help himself but needle Jones by presenting him a chauffer’s cap to go along with his new Cadillac. Jones would play his final game for the Celtics on March 19, 1967, in a 124-113 victory over the New York Knicks at Boston Garden. Jones scored 10 points, with seven assists and four rebounds while playing 36 minutes.
