Offense is the Best Defense
Date: January 19, 1963
Defense was in short supply on January 19, 1963, as the Celtics took on the Syracuse Nationals. Down 80-65 at halftime, the Celtics mounted a second-half comeback to tie the game at 137 and send it to overtime. In a physical game where the teams attempted a combined 122 free throws, Bob Cousy chipped in 10 points and didn’t miss a free throw, but uncharacteristically came up with only two assists as the Celtics lost a close one, 149-148.
