On the Cover: The New Big Three
Date: 2007-08 season
The 2007-08 Celtics found the right formula by adding superstars Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett, along with important role players like Eddie House, James Posey and Glen Davis, to a core of Paul Pierce, Rajon Rondo and Kendrick Perkins. Boston recorded 42 more victories than the previous season, by far the biggest turnaround in NBA history. The revamped Celtics won 66 games, the third most in franchise history, and prepared for a deep postseason run behind Boston’s new Big Three of Pierce, Garnett and Allen. The Celtics played an NBA playoff-record 26 games before clinching NBA World Championship title No. 17.
