Two future Hall-of-Famers, Julius “Dr. J” Erving and John “Hondo” Havlicek, battled in a game at Boston Garden. Despite being a decade older than Erving, Havlicek built his reputation on his ability to constantly move. According to a Sports Illustrated report, Havlicek put on a pedometer during a game against the Chicago Bulls in 1977. In 43 minutes on the floor, Havlicek logged eight miles of running. Not bad for a player a year out from retirement.
