So Close in 2010
With their full complement of players, the Celtics marched through the 2010 NBA Playoffs on a mission. Boston bounced the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference First Round and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the semifinals before getting a rematch with the Orlando Magic. Kevin Garnett and Rasheed Wallace helped control Magic star Dwight Howard this time around, and Boston won the Eastern Conference Finals in six games. In the 12th NBA Finals meeting between the Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers, Boston took a 3-2 series lead. The Lakers put on a defensive clinic in Game 6, holding the Celtics to just 67 points. While Game 7 was a close affair, a string of Celtics fouls in the fourth quarter doomed the team’s chances as the Lakers won the game and the series.
