Stumbling Out of the Blocks
Date: 1970
Even though Boston won two NBA World Championship titles in 1974 and 1976, the Celtics started the 1970s off on the wrong foot. After taking the title in 1969, the 1969-70 team had the inauspicious record of being one of the few teams in NBA history to miss the playoffs after winning a championship the previous season. John Havlicek and Satch Sanders closely guarding Walt Frazier of the New York Knicks hinted at some of the battles to come between the two teams.
