The Big Three “Signed With the Pros”
Date: 1986-87 season
Massachusetts Governor Michael Dukakis launched an anti-drug campaign in 1984 with the help of the Boston Celtics. A program called “Sign With the Pros” encouraged students to “stand tall against drugs and enter the Celtics challenge.” As part of the campaign, posters featured the famously short Dukakis standing on a folding chair either with the entire team or with the Big Three of Larry Bird, Robert Parish and Kevin McHale. The posters popped up in school hallways and on public transit lines across the Commonwealth.
