The End of the Garden
Date: 1994-95 season
In the final season at Boston Garden, the Celtics ushered in a new era of their own with former player M.L. Carr taking over the player management role. Red Auerbach, whose tenure with the franchise spanned almost its entire time playing at the Garden, discussed some of his favorite Garden memories as part of the 1994-95 yearbook. “As far as the playing surface, it was a good place to play,” explained Auerbach. “It had much undue criticism, but that was usually from players and coaches who were on the losing end. They couldn’t face up to the fact that we were better than them. We beat them in their building, too, remember.”
