Wrong Size Ricky
Date: 2000s
Former first-round pick Ricky Davis came to Boston in late 2003 as part of a trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers. In three years with the Celtics, Davis averaged double digits in points every year with a high of 19.7 in the 2005-06 season. Perhaps Davis’ most famous story comes from his time with the Cavaliers. Leading late in the game, Davis threw a shot at his own goal in an attempt to get one more rebound to record a triple-double. The gaffe led to his nickname, “Wrong Rim Ricky.”
